Mastodon Handle Rules
- •Length - 1 to 30 characters for the local part before @instance.
- •Characters - Letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), and underscores (_). No hyphens, periods, or spaces in the local part.
- •Case - Handles are stored lowercase. The full handle is @{handle}@instance.
- •Federation - This checker verifies the local part via mastodon.social — pick your instance at claim time; full user@domain is out of scope.
- •Uniqueness - Local handle is unique per instance. Monitoring checks the canonical lookup.
